2018 Bond, May 22

On May 22, 2018, the voters of Hattiesburg will have the opportunity to invest in the facilities of the Hattiesburg Public School District by voting on a bond issue. This issue will raise up to $22.5 million for renovations and additions for all schools in the district. Here are some facts that you need to know about this project.

Hattiesburg High School 2018 Graduation

HHS Boys’ Track and Field, 5A State Champions!

Congratulations to the Hattiesburg High School Boys’ Track and Field team for earning the 5A State Championship Title! The Lady Tiger Track and Field team finished the season as the 5A State Runner-up. We are proud of our student athletes!

HPSD Names Athletic Coordinator

Hattiesburg Public School District is proud to announce Tony Vance as the Athletic Coordinator following unanimous board approval during the May school board meeting. Vance has served as the varsity head football coach for the past five years. He will continue to serve as the head football coach.

“Tony Vance is an outstanding coach. His experience, his knowledge, and his ability to work with student athletes will serve him well in this new role,” Dr. Robert Williams said.

This past season, Vance led the Tiger football team into a historic season leading them to their first 5A South State Championship and first state championship appearance since 1998. Prior to coming to Hattiesburg Public School District, Vance served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director in Charleston, MS.

“I am excited and honored that Dr. Williams and the HPSD Board of Trustees is giving me this opportunity to serve as Athletic Coordinator. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past five years and I look forward to working with our administrators, coaches, and student-athletes in this new capacity as we continue to move our program forward,” Vance said.

Vance earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science both in Education from Mississippi Valley State University. He also completed the Mississippi Alternate Path to Quality School Leadership (MAPQSL) program through Mississippi Community College Foundation (MCCF).

Kindergarten Readiness Night April 24, 2018

Kindergarten Readiness/Registration: “Building the Foundation for Graduation” will be held April 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Grace Christian Multipurpose Room. Incoming kindergarten parents and students will be able to pre-register their child for the 2018-2019 school year, meet their child’s principal, receive information about reading and mathematics readiness, and register for the HPSD summer program. SEMRHi will also provide information about immunizations and health screeners.
