UPDATE: Monday PD Day for staff. No school for students.

HPSD-UPDATE
There will be no school for all HPSD students Monday.
 
Monday will be a professional development day for staff. All staff will report to work at the regular time. Due to a power outage, N. R. Burger staff will report to the Multiple-Purpose Room at Hattiesburg High School. All bus drivers and cafeteria staff will not report unless directed by their supervisor.
 
A decision will be made on Monday afternoon about school for Tuesday. Notice will be posted as soon as a decision has been made about the schedule.
 
School staff will be available Monday to assist parents with school needs related to the storm. Additionally, grief and trauma counselors are being coordinated to assist any students who need them.

HHS SENIOR WILSON NAMED ALL-AMERICAN

Chrystal Wilson 2017 NSDA All-American
Hattiesburg HS Forensics Senior Chrystal Wilson has been named a 2017 National Speech and Debate Association Academic All-American. Wilson qualified for this national honor by scoring over 750 points at NSDA competitions, achieving an ACT score above 27, and maintaining above a 3.7 cumulative GPA. She joins a special group of students across the country to achieve this honor and is the 21st All American named from Hattiesburg HS since 2001. She has participated in HPSD Forensics since the 7th grade at NR Burger Middle School. Wilson has won MHSAA State Championships in multiple events and has placed in final rounds across the country including national championship tournaments.

HHS SHINES AT ST. ANDREW’S INVITATIONAL

HHS SHINES AT ST. ANDREW'S INVITATIONAL
Hattiesburg HS Forensics participated in the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Invitational in Ridgeland placing multiple students in final rounds of competition. Senior Derek Collins led the Tigers with first place championship finishes in Dramatic Interpretation and Duo Interpretation with partner Kerrington Anderson. Sophomores Owen Sayre and Madison Cathey finished in 2nd place in Lincoln Douglas Debate and Declamation respectfully. Freshman Jacob Gurt made the final round of Declamation as well finishing in 3rd place.
