Hattiesburg HS Forensics President and HHS Student Body President, Senior Jarrius Adams was named the 2014 recipient of the Perry Tyner Memorial Award presented by the Board of Trustees of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The award is presented annually to a student that has overcome significant personal obstacles while excelling academically and in the area of competitive speech and debate.
Hattiesburg High Congressional Debaters also asserted their power in the House of Representatives as Sophomore Ben Parker won the Congressional Debate Championship. He was joined in the Super Session by two Freshmen, Nuvindu Fernando and Josiah Mansfield. (Pictured)
Sophomore sensation Derek Collins won 1st place in Varsity Prose/Poetry and Varsity Humorous Interpretation. HHS also garnered several other individual awards.
The team now focuses on hosting the 27th Hub City Classic this weekend at Hattiesburg High.
