The Hattiesburg Public School District (HPSD) is offering a number of different programs for students at every level to continue their education over the summer. HPSD is hosting programs for students who are excelling and for those that need help in a specific area. The district compiled another edition of the award-winning “Summer Resource Guide” for parents that highlights student activities around the city. This guide includes camps and services offered by HPSD, the City of Hattiesburg, civic organizations and churches. HPSD is offering seven different programs during the summer for students:
OUT TO SEA – Summer Enhancement Academy (June 9-July 3) Grades: K-2 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
iCHALLENGE – Summer Enrichment Academy (June 9-July 3) Grades: 3-7 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
EXTENDED YEAR (June 9-July 3) (4 weeks) For those students that failed with a grade above a 50
TRADITIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL (June 9-July 17) 1 credit can be earned Cost: $100
SUMMER BRIDGE (July 7-17) Grades: Incoming Freshmen
SATP REMEDIATION (July 14-17) For 2015 Seniors who failed a state test during 2013-14 school year.
JUMPSTART – Field Experience Academy (July 15-17 & July 22-24) Grades: K-2
These programs are also supported by the HPSD Summer Nutrition Program that provides breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday for all children in Hattiesburg free of charge.
