Students need nutritious meals to perform at their absolute best and it is the mission of the HPSD Child Nutrition Department to ensure that each student receives the nutritional support they need to succeed. The department, as an extension of the educational programs of our schools, is operated under the federally funded National School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, as amended. The Federal laws regulating the child nutrition programs are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Mississippi State Department of Education. The program’s objective is to improve the health of students by providing nutritious meals and nutrition education for the students.

Breakfast is offered at each school every morning before school. There is no charge for HPSD students for breakfast. Be sure that your student starts school with a nutritious breakfast each morning!
