Leadership PIne Belt Donation
Mr. Bacchus accepted a $2,000 donation from the ADP's Leadership Pine Belt 2011 Team 1 today (Aug 31). They presented the check at Lillie Burney and took time to visit with Lillie Burney's Pre-K students.

Practical Parent Education Training
HPSD recently hosted "Practical Parent Education Training" for parents, administrators, and teachers at the Family Education Center. The training was designed to teach parents and school staff to empower and engage parents across the district. By encouraging parent-to-parent communication and giving staff strategies to involve the district's parents, the district hopes to increase our parent involvement and ultimately improve our students' performance and success rate!

HPSD STUDENTS FINISH THIRD AT GOLF TOURNEY
HPS students earned third place in the Southeastern Regional Ryder Cup in New Orleans. The students are part of the First Tee of the Pine Belt which accepted an invitation to play in the competition on Aug 20, 2011. The Greater New Orleans Regional Invitational Ryder Cup consisted of Drive, Chip, and Putt competition as well as a course tournament and had about 100 students from across the region competing. The event was hosted by TPC Louisiana, home of the Zurich Classic.

Ready, Set, Go!
Hattiesburg Public Schools hosted the Ready, Set, Go! Kick-Off event for the district's Pre-K through 2nd Grade students at the Lillie Burney Elementary Multi-Purpose Room on Tuesday evening.
