HPS students earned third place in the Southeastern Regional Ryder Cup in New Orleans. The students are part of the First Tee of the Pine Belt which accepted an invitation to play in the competition on Aug 20, 2011. The Greater New Orleans Regional Invitational Ryder Cup consisted of Drive, Chip, and Putt competition as well as a course tournament and had about 100 students from across the region competing. The event was hosted by TPC Louisiana, home of the Zurich Classic.

The First Tee of the Pine Belt is one of 204 Chapters in the United States. Since 2008 they have served more than 400 children. The mission of the First Tee of the Pine Belt is to impact the lives of young people by providing education programs that build character, instill life enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
