Alumni Spotlight: HPS Recognizes Representative Missy McGee

Hattiesburg native Missy Warren McGee is a 1982 graduate of Hattiesburg High School. McGee is a Mississippi House Representative, serving the 102nd district, comprised of Forrest and Lamar county. Representative McGee is also a graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. She then obtained her master’s degree in Speech Communication at USM.
At the beginning of her political career, McGee was a Legislative Assistant to Senator Trent Lott in Washington D.C. Afterwards; Representative McGee returned to Mississippi as an instructor of Speech Communication at The University of Southern Mississippi. When Representative McGee won her first election in 2017, she became the second woman to hold a seat for the 102nd district. In the 2021 House session, Representative McGee serves as the Vice-Chair for the Public Health and Human Services Committee and is a part of the following committees: Apportionment and Elections, Medicaid, Transportation, and Universities and Colleges.
Representative McGee is a lifetime member of USM Alumni Association, former board member of the USM Athletic Foundation, life member of the Hattiesburg Jr. Auxiliary Leadership Pinebelt; Area Development Partnership, Hattiesburg Dixie Youth baseball, and member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Representative McGee is married to Sean McGee, and together they have two children: Patrick and Jackson McGee.
