Chris Chambers is a 2002 graduate of Hattiesburg High School. Chris joined the U.S. Coast Guard upon graduating from HHS and retired in 2023 with 21 years of honorable service, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Chris is currently the Director of Corporate Security for Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK, where he oversees the safety and security for a workforce of over 10,000 employees.

Chris has earned his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation through ASIS International and his Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) designation through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Additionally, Chris is a recent graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Citizens’ Academy. 

Chris is passionate about community service, as evidenced by his involvement and accomplishments. Chris serves as a board member for the following organizations: South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Rise Tampa – Our Police Foundation, and AdventHealth Foundation. Chris is the 2019 recipient of the Tampa Bay Chamber’s Emerging Leader of the Year Award, 2021 Tampa Bay Business Journal 40 under 40 Honoree, and 2024 Tampa Club 42 under 42 Honoree.
