Counselor's Corner
SEPTEMBER 2024
I hope each of your 2024-2025 school year is off to a good start. I have seen wonderful things in our classrooms with CLASS, Conscious Discipline, and overall interactions with our little people.
Here are a few tips from your PreK Counselor for the start and throughout the year.
1. Reflect on your previous year's successes and challenges
- Through reflection, you can identify patterns and trends that will guide your decision-making for this year.
2. Set Goals
- By setting achievable objectives that align with your professional aspirations and the needs of the children, you can create a roadmap for your growth.
3. Build Connections with Families and Children
- Creating strong connections with families and children is crucial for a successful preschool experience.
4. Outline clear daily expectations from start to finish
- Communicating your expectations to families is essential for establishing a balanced learning environment.
5. Create a routine and stick with it, if adjustments need to be made, make them for the better
- Creating a routine is a fundamental aspect of preschool education that provides structure and predictability for young learners.
6. Practice Self-Care
- As a preschool teacher, it's essential to prioritize self-care and your own mental health to maintain your well-being throughout the year.
- Nurture your own personal and professional growth by setting boundaries to find a healthy work-life balance and seeking comfort in things you enjoy.

Please be patient with me teacher, I am only four, and I need patience, guidance, structure, and positive interactions with you and my peers. If I fall short and don't always get it right please give me grace, teach me, another chance, and a brand new start daily. Whether you know it or not you, are my special hero and will begin my school career, so please do it with love, patience, and compassion. We are asking you to meet us where we are so we can be viewed as individuals and grow throughout this journey. Thank you in advance for your hard work that is focused on us at the young age of four to be successful academically and socially.
Signed,
