Kim D. Jackson is the Federal Security Director (FSD) in Mississippi with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Since being appointed to this federal position on November 1, 2019, he has been responsible for the screening operations and the administrative support functions for TSA at six federalized airports, including the state’s Hub airport, the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN). In August 2021, he was selected to serve on the TSA Administrator’s Inclusion Action Committee, where he advocates for policies, practices, training, and educational activities that promote diversity engagement and inclusion. He began his service with TSA on July 10, 2016, as the Human Resources Specialist at JAN, where he provided guidance in a wide range of areas, including staffing needs, disciplinary actions, compensation, and benefits.
Mr. Jackson is also a highly motivated, accomplished, and results-oriented 33-year military police law enforcement professional with proven expertise in developing and implementing security and emergency procedures and policies key to protecting high-profile personnel and assets worth over $2 billion. He has a strong record of success and has had continuous promotions throughout his career. He created and supported robust safety, risk management, and security programs, guided teams in the design and launch of leading-edge regional, national, and international police and security programs that address safety deficiencies.
He was selected by senior officers to oversee and manage a prison that housed Saddam Hussein and his cabinet members for 70 days, maintaining the highest level of secrecy to ensure the prison location remained confidential. He oversaw safety for five Iraqi Governmental heads, coordinated security details, and planned unit strategies to ensure safety of all personnel regardless of the hectic and often dangerous environment. He demonstrated a high level of leadership in planning safety procedures for United Nations personnel, supervised planning and implementation of security all tactics, strategies, and processes. He implemented formal procedures to ensure base operations and resources were ready and available to be used nationally and internationally to support homeland security missions. He supported security operations in U.S. Airports immediately following the 9/11 attacks until the establishment of TSA.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized with awards and honors: Legion of Merit; Bronze Star; Combat Action Badge; Meritorious Service Medal w/Two OLC; Army Commendation Medal w/Sliver OLC; Army Achievement Medal w/Two OLC; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Third Award; Humanitarian Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with Silver OLC; and Military Police Marechaussee /Gold.
With honor and integrity, Mr. Jackson has served his country in various leadership positions - Brigade Executive Officer, Military Police Liaison Officer and Commander. He completed one combat mission in Iraq, in support of the Global War on terrorism. He retired at the rank of Brigadier General.
Mr. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a native of Hattiesburg, MS, is married to Sheila, is a father of two sons, and is a proud grandfather of three. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys tailgating during football season.
