Robert Smith, a native of Hattiesburg, is a 2011 graduate of Hattiesburg High School. After high school, he attended the Mississippi State Fire Academy where he received certifications in structural firefighting and fire safety. Smith continued his education at Pearl River Community College receiving his Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT) in 2014.
Mr. Robert Smith serves as a Lieutenant of the Hattiesburg Fire Department. In 2014, Smith received an Accommodation and Medal of Merit for rescuing a victim from a burning home. In 2021, Smith was the celebrated recipient of the Firefighter of the Year award. Lt. Smith has countless amount of training hours and technical rescue certifications. Smith is passionate about building his community and its residents and is devoted to his church Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship Center. Smith also serves as an instructor in the training division for the Hattiesburg Fire Department.
Smith continues his education and is enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi. Lieutenant Smith is a proud alumnus of Hattiesburg Public Schools and contributes much of his social skills and knowledge to the wonderful experience at Hattiesburg High School.
